Home, Home in the Church
Eleven years ago I came to the United States. At that time I was just a freshman in high school. I felt lonely and scared because I did not know many people and I did not understand much English. I wanted to have my home here, yet all my relatives and friends were on the other side of the globe. I was homesick and as the days went by my heart was drying out.
I prayed to the Lord and asked Him to give me a home, a place I could belong to, a group of people that I could relate to, and companions that I could pursue Christ with. I love my Lord, but there’s no way I could go on alone, especially so far away from home.
The Lord not only heard my prayers, He answered my prayers. He brought me to the local church. Although I didn’t know anyone here, they treated me like they had known me for a long time. I felt like I was at home when I was with the Christian brothers and sisters and when I was in their meetings. I sensed that I belonged here. I felt secure and I was happy and full of joy.
It must be the Lord. No natural love could be so full and touch the depth of my heart. The believers in the local church loved me because they loved the Lord. I love them because of the Lord. Our love is not built on a natural relationship. Instead our love is based and built on Christ. Only He can gather us together. Although we have different languages and are from different backgrounds we can receive and love one another because we have Him and we love Him.
All my fears and loneliness faded away. I found a home. Home. Home in the church.
Christ, the Center of God’s Plan
Believing in Christ is easy compared to knowing Christ. Because Christ is the center of God’s plan, as a believer I must know Christ, otherwise I would really miss God's intention that I come to the full knowledge of the truth (1 Tim. 2:4). But how do I get to know Christ? Who can help me to know God’s plan? Where can I go to find the answer regarding who Christ is?
In the books and the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, I have found many messages that have helped me to know Christ more and more. These two men’s study of the Bible was focused only on Christ, the real and unique solution to all problems. They help me to get closer to the center of God’s plan—Christ; and they helped me to have deeper and sweeter experiences of Christ.
After reading their books, I am excited to be a Christian. I now know God's plan in the Bible and I know Christ, the center of God’s plan.
